ABOUT Seaside Towns in Lazio
An unmistakable Italian atmosphere, the dolce vita, small seaside towns on scenic hillsides, friendly people, and excellent food wait for us in the Lazio region. Whether based in Rome and traveling from there by train or renting a car and staying in a different town every day: it definitely worth exploring Lazio’s coastline. Starting in the north with Anzio and Santa Marinella and then heading to the south and exploring Sperlonga and Gaeta. Exploring the last two small towns takes a little more time.
WHAT I LOVE THE MOST
Anzio and Santa Marinella are attractive because of their closeness to Rome, making them a perfect getaway from the busy capital. But what I like to most is the architecture of Sperlonga, Gaeta, and of course their lovely beaches with crystal clear water. Both are pretty magical, not to mention the panorama we can enjoy from here. While in Gaeta, don’t miss the Grotta del Turco cave, and if you still have the strength, check out the Sanctuary of Montagna Spaccata, where you can climb on stunningly narrow stairs. In return, the entire Gulf of Gaeta unfolds before us. Incredible!
