ABOUT Rye Island
Rye Island (Zitny Ostrov or Csallokoz) is a river island in south-western Slovakia, extending from the capital, Bratislava to the city called Komarno. It lies between the river Danube, more precisely the Little Danube and the river Váh. Csallokoz is considered the biggest river island in Europe, and the biggest water reservoir in Slovakia. This land is characterized by a warm climate, good soil, tasty food, interesting experiences, and lovely natural scenes.
WHAT I LOVE THE MOST
Growing up in Csallokoz makes me an ‘insider’ tourist who can appreciate now many things this land can offer after spending so many years away. What do I like the most? Walking along the riverside, cycling around the region, and stopping in small villages, where I can, for instance, taste cakes that take me back to my childhood. I also like the location of Csallokoz because everything is so close, you can reach the capital within an hour. Convenient to do a day-trip to Bratislava and get to know its sights, atmosphere as well.
