ABOUT Lake BALATON

Did you know that Hungarians have a sea? ? It is called Balaton. The 77 km long “Hungarian Sea” is considered the largest lake in Central Europe, and the cleanest air area in Hungary. Good quality beaches with excellent freshwater, 6 wine regions, festivals, tasty food, and cozy restaurants, along with many interesting activities are waiting for you around Lake Balaton in every season. 

WHAT I LOVE THE MOST

I love to explore Balaton during off-season periods, especially in autumn because of the colors and vibes, and of course the wine tastings. Discovering new restaurants and going back to the ones I trust, drinking loads of fröccs (white wine with soda) and tasting seasonal dishes. Cycling around the lake, watching the panorama from Badacsony, getting lost between small villages on the northern side. 

MY 6 FAVOURITE THINGS around BALATON
  • Discovering Kali-medence, and visiting the small villages;
  • The lake panorama from Balatongyorok Szepkilato;
  • Having a coffee break in the garden of Kali Art Inn, Koveskal;
  • Buying homemade groceries, jewelry, etc. at the Liliomkert market in Kaptalantoti;
  • Having dinner in Makvirag Restaurant, Revfulop;
  • Watching a movie at a beach cinema during long summer nights.
