Charming Dutch Towns and Tulips
ABOUT Charming Dutch Towns and Tulips
Holland’s best thing is that there are no significant distances between cities, and the public transport works just fine. You can reach many charming small towns from Amsterdam quickly by train, and visit each one on a different day. Sounds exciting, right? There are three small towns to be discovered: Haarlem, Utrecht, and Leiden. And of course, you cannot miss the tulip and spring flower wonderland, Keukenhof during its opening season. Neither tasting the Dutch pancakes (pannekoenken), the stroopwafel, and different cheeses.
WHAT I LOVE THE MOST
Haarlem is my perfect afternoon getaway. Having a coffee on the main square, Grote Markt, or doing a little bit of shopping and being back in Amsterdam in 15 min of train ride. Utrecht, the vibrant university city, is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. Unique two-story canals surround my favorite Dutch town. I can spend my whole day at this charming place. The next day, I visit Leiden, the birth city of Rembrandt, and also the town of the most beautiful canals in Holland. On the last day, I hang-out in Keukenhof and admire beautiful flowers: the sea of tulips, hyacinths, crocuses.
